The Company

SMC is a manufacturer of Marine Motion sensors and systems and has developed the SMC series of Sensors to work in the most demanding of environments to the highest technical specifications. The SMC-108 is a highly accurate, temperature tolerant, stable sensor that uses high precision algorithms and the latest gyro motion technology at a very cost effective price.

 The Products

In the demanding world of hydrographic survey operations the effect of vessel motions can be critical. The use of a Motion Sensor unit provides the ability to maintain the survey accuracy during roll, pitch and heave movements under severe dynamic conditions. Where accuracy is paramount false readings cost time and money.

All the modern sonar systems produce highly accurate depth measurements and produce excellent sea bed topography but errors of high magnitudes will stand out if the measuring of offsets is incorrect. The advantage of more reliable and less noisy data set can be critical in the analysis of measuring offsets. Often though the cost of a high accuracy Motion Sensor could be as much as the acquisition system itself.
